Thomas B. McRoberts Human Rights Award
Morris Area Businesses and Organizations;
We, the members of the Morris Human Rights Commission (MHRC), invite your business, organization or a member of your organization to consider nominating an individual for the 2011 Thomas B. McRoberts Human Rights Award (formerly the Morris Area Human Rights Award). We believe that you are uniquely poised to know someone deserving of this award. The individual may be a member of your business or organization, currently or in the past, but this is not a requirement. In addition, please feel free to submit a nomination for a person who may have been nominated in past years but has not received the award, as each year's nominations are considered by the MHRC as new requests.
This is a great opportunity to help the MHRC and the greater Morris community to publicly recognize an individual or a group who has shown a strong commitment to Human Rights. We urge you to consider nominating someone for the award, and have added a link to the nomination form below for your convenience. Simply complete the nomination form and return it to the Morris City Office by Friday, November 18, 2011.
If you have any questions about the award nomination process, please call the Morris City Office for more information at (320) 589-3141, or contact the MHRC directly at morrishrc@gmail.com. We appreciate your consideration and effort in this important civic endeavor, and thank you for supporting the work of the Morris Human Rights Commission.

The Morris Human Rights Commission invites nominations for its 2011 Thomas B. McRoberts Human Rights Award. The Commission recently renamed the award to honor the late Tom McRoberts, longtime Commission member, secretary, and regional member-at-large on the League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions. According to Becki Jordan, Commission chair, "Tom's life of service to the Morris community as educator, adviser, and activist exemplified everything we think about when we think about human rights."
Established in 2007 the Human Rights Award annually honors a Morris resident or group who has shown a strong commitment to human rights.
Previous recipients have included Patty Kill (2007), Nancy Huot (2008), Sal Monteagudo (2009), and Argie Manolis (2010).
Since 1997 the Morris Human Right Commission has worked at educating the public, identifying and helping resolve equity problems, responding to incidents of discrimination, and cooperating with educational institutions, public agencies, businesses, and community groups on human rights matters.
Current members include Roland Guyotte, Becki Jordan (chair), Ron Kubik, Jeff Miller (city council representative), Deb Stoneberg, and Ann Streed.
