MINUTES – MORRIS CITY COUNCIL – REGULAR MEETING – SEPTEMBER 25, 2018

The regular meeting of the Morris City Council was called to order at 5:15 p.m. this 25th day of September, 2018, by Mayor Giese in the Council Chambers of the Morris Senior Citizens/Community Center.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

ROLL CALL: Roll call was taken with the following members present: Council member Wohlers, Solvie, Gullickson, Miller and Mayor Giese. Also present was City Manager Hill, Finance Director Raasch, City Attorney Jordan and Police Chief Tiegs.

ADDITION TO AGENDA: Mayor Giese moved, seconded by Council member Solvie, to add an Application for Exempt Permit for Stevens County Ducks Unlimited to the consent agenda. Motion carried.

CITIZEN'S COMMENTS: None

PUBLIC HEARING: None

READING AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES: 9/11/18 Regular Meeting Minutes: Council member Miller moved, seconded by Wohlers, to approve the 9/11/18 regular meeting minutes. Motion carried.

9/11/18 Condensed Minutes: Council member Gullickson moved, seconded by Wohlers, to approve the 9/11/18 condensed version minutes. Motion carried.

CONSENT AGENDA/span>: Mayor Giese moved, seconded by Council member Wohlers, to approve the consent agenda which included the following items:

A. Audit of City Bills

B. 8/21/18 Planning Commission Minutes

C. Revenue & Expenditure Report

D. PPD Final Report

E. 8/22/18 Tourism Board Minutes

F. Application for Exempt Permit – Ducks Unlimited

Motion carried.

CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS & RECOMMENDATIONS: City Manager Newsletter: This was informational for the council.

Hill stated the vending water at the city shop will be discontinued for now. Hill noted the majority of the people using it are outside of city limits. There are also people not writing down what they are using and some not paying at all.

Hill noted it was been decided to get rid of the blacktop area at east side and go back to more of a natural area.

MINUTES – MORRIS CITY COUNCIL – REGULAR MEETING – SEPTEMBER 25, 2018 OTHER BUSINESS: Green River Area: Hill indicated the area has been reseeded with native prairie grass and wildflowers but currently there is a thistle problem. Hill pointed out Matt Solemsaas recommended waiting until next spring to deal with the thistle issue. Council member Miller commented that hopefully by next spring/summer the area will be looking better.
