MINUTES - MORRIS CITY COUNCIL - REGULAR MEETING - MARCH 13, 2018

The regular meeting of the Morris City Council was called to order at 5:15 p.m. this 13th day of March, 2018, by Mayor Giese in the Council Chambers of the Morris Senior Citizens/Community Center.

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

ROLL CALL: Roll call was taken with the following members present: Council member Wohlers, Gullickson, Miller, and Mayor Giese. Council members Solvie and Gullickson were absent. Also present was City Manager Hill, Finance Director Raasch, Fire Chief Dybdal and Police Chief Tiegs.

 

ADDITION TO AGENDA: Mayor Giese moved, seconded by Council member Wohlers, to add a Final Pay Estimate - 2017 Street Improvements, to the consent agenda. Motion carried.

 

CITIZEN'S COMMENTS: None

 

PUBLIC HEARINGS: None

 

READING AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES: 2/27/18 Regular City Council Meeting Minutes: Council member Miller moved, seconded by Council member Wohlers, to approve the 2/27/18 regular meeting minutes. Motion carried.

 

2/27/18 Condensed Version Minutes: Mayor Giese moved, seconded by Council member Miller, to approve the 2/27/18 condensed version minutes. Motion carried.

 

CONSENT AGENDA: Mayor Giese moved, seconded by Council member Wohlers, to approve the consent agenda which included the following items:

A. Audit of City Bills

B. Final Pay Estimate - Oregon Avenue

C. Pay Estimate #6 - Magney Construction

D. February Transit Report

E. Gambling Reports

F. Application for Exempt Permit - Ducks Unlimited

G. Final Pay Estimate - 2017 Street Improvements

Motion carried.

 

PETITIONS, REQUESTS AND COMMUNICATIONS: None

 

ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS: Resolution Authorizing Advertising for Bids for the 2018 Reclaim Project: Jeff Kuhn of WSN was present at the meeting. Kuhn stated the roads included in the reclaim project are Birch Avenue from Thomas Street to the curve, Skyview Lane to East Brook Avenue, Bluebird Court from Skyview Lane to Thomas Street and Imperial Drive. There are no assessments for these reclaims.

 

Council member Wohlers moved, seconded by Miller, to adopt Resolution #3542-3-18, Resolution Authorizing Advertising for Bids for the 2018 Reclaim Project. Upon a roll call vote taken and all present voting in favor, motion carried.

 

CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS & RECOMMENDATIONS: City Manager Newsletter: This was informational for the council.

 

OTHER BUSINESS: Change April 10th Council Meeting to MAHS: Council member Wohlers moved, seconded by Miller, to change the April 10th council meeting to 8:30 a.m. in the Morris Area High School Auditorium. Motion carried.

 

INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Construction Progress Report - Water Treatment Facility: This was informational for the council.

 

MPD Media Reports: This was informational for the council.

 

ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, Mayor Giese adjourned the meeting at 5:34 p.m.
