MINUTES - MORRIS CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING - MAY 9, 2017

The regular meeting of the Morris City Council was called to order at 5:15 p.m. this 9th day of May, 2017, by Mayor Pro Tem Miller in the Council Chambers of the Morris Senior Citizens/Community Center.

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

ADDITION TO AGENDA: Mayor Pro Tem Miller added to the agenda a Resolution Approving Change Order No. 1 to the 2016 Airport Parallel Taxiway Project.

 

ROLL CALL: Roll call was taken with the following members present: Council member Wohlers, Solvie, Gullickson, and Mayor Pro Tem Miller. Mayor Giese was absent. Also present was City Manager Hill, Finance Director Raasch, Public Works Director Dittbenner, Police Chief Tiegs and City Attorney Jordan.

 

CITIZEN'S COMMENTS: 2016 Wastewater Treatment Facility Operational Award: Ryan Mogard was present at the meeting and received commendation for the City of Morris 2016 Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator Award from the MPCA.

 

Pedestrian Safety - Mariah Frisk & Anne Moore: Frisk and Moore, students at UMM, were at the meeting and presented information as part of a pedestrian safety survey they had conducted.

 

PUBLIC HEARINGS: None

 

READING AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES: 4/25/17 Regular City Council Meeting Minutes: Council member Solvie moved, seconded by Council member Gullickson, to approve the 4/25/17 regular meeting minutes. Motion carried.

 

4/25/17 Condensed Version Minutes: Mayor Pro Tem Miller moved, seconded by Wohlers, to approve the 4/25/17 condensed version minutes. Motion carried.

 

CONSENT AGENDA: Council member Gullickson moved, seconded by Council member Solvie, to approve the consent agenda which included the following items:

A. Audit of City Bills

B. April Transit Report

C. 3/31/17 Tree Board Minutes

Motion carried.

 

PETITIONS, REQUESTS AND COMMUNICATIONS: None

 

ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS: Resolution Approving Change Order No. 1 to the 2016 Airport Parallel Taxiway Project: Hill explained that the only change with this is that the substantially completed by date needs to be pushed back by a month. Hill noted because federal and state funding had to be approved first, Riley's started a month later.

 

Council member Wohlers moved, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Miller to adopt Resolution #3482-5-17, Resolution Approving Change Order No. 1 to the 2016 Airport Parallel Taxiway Project. Upon a roll call vote taken and all present voting in favor, motion carried.

INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: MS4 Permit Application: This was informational for the council.

 

ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, Mayor Pro Tem Miller adjourned the meeting at 5:41 p.m.
