April 3, 2012

The Board of Review was called to order at 5:15 p.m. this 3rd day of April, 2012, by Mayor Giese in the Council Chambers of the Morris Senior Citizens/Community Center.

Present were Council members Carrington, Webster, Miller, Storck and Mayor Giese. Also present were City Manager Hill, County Assessor Thorstad, City Assessor Gieselman and Deputy Assessor Michaelson.

County Assessor Thorstad stated things have been pretty quiet.

City Assessor Gieselman stated there were 64 sales in the last year, which was up from 59 in 2011 and 55 in 2010.

Gieselman noted there were three commercial sales and 103 building permits issued.

Council member Miller asked about the old lumberyard property. Gieselman stated part of it was sold and Clint Warzecha still owns the rest of it.

Thorstad stated she will be doing training again next year.

Storck stated he has always had a problem with building permits. Storck doesn’t understand why a person has to pay for a permit when they’re trying to fix up their house. City Manager Hill noted the City of Wadena does not have a building code or issue building permits. Hill stated the city of Morris does it so someone is watching over the projects and some kind of standard is being met.

Mayor Giese adjourned the meeting at 5:26 p.m.
