MINUTES– MORRIS CITY COUNCIL ORGANIZATIONAL  MEETING–JANUARY 4, 2011

The organizational meeting of the Morris City Council was called to order at 5:15 p.m. this 4th day of January, 2011, by Mayor Giese in the Council Chambers of the Morris Senior Citizens/Community Center.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

READING AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  12/28/10 Regular Meeting Minutes:  Council member Miller moved, seconded by Carrington, to approve the 12/28/10 regular meeting minutes.  Motion carried.

12/28/10 Condensed Version:  Mayor Giese moved, seconded by Council member Storck, to approve the 12/28/10 condensed version minutes.  Motion carried.

OATH OF OFFICE:  City Attorney Glasrud administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Sheldon Giese and Council member Jeff Miller.

ROLL CALL:  Roll call was taken with the following members present:  Council member   Carrington, Miller, Storck and Mayor Giese.  Council member Webster was absent.  Also present was City Manager Hill, Finance Director Krosschell and City Attorney Glasrud.

OFFICIAL ACTS:   Election of Mayor Pro Tem:  Council member Storck moved, seconded by Mayor Giese, to appoint Council member Miller as Mayor Pro Tem for 2011.  Motion carried.

RESOLUTIONS:  Resolution Adopting Standing Rules:  Council member Miller moved, seconded by Storck, to adopt Resolution #2970-1-11, Resolution Adopting the 2011 Morris City Council Standing Rules.  Upon a roll call vote taken and all present voting in favor, motion carried.

Resolution Authorizing Finance Director to Designate Depositories:  Council member Carrington moved, seconded by Storck, to adopt Resolution #2971-1-11, Resolution Authorizing Finance Director to Designate Depositories.  Upon a roll call vote taken and all present voting in favor, motion carried.

MAYORAL APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS & COMMISSIONS:  Mayor Giese made appointments to the various boards and commissions as presented in a memo to the council. 

APPOINTMENTS OF EX-OFFICIOS:  It was the consensus of the council members to remain on their various boards and commissions as follows:

         Webster – Park Board, Chamber of Commerce

         Carrington – RFC Board, Community Ed

         Miller – Planning Commission, Human Rights Commission

         Storck – Airport Advisory Board, Rental Housing Commission

         Giese – West Central Initiative, SCEIC, Tourism Board

 

ADJOURNMENT:  There being no further business, Mayor Giese adjourned the meeting at 5:25 p.m.
