MINUTES– MORRIS CITY
COUNCIL– REGULAR MEETING – JANUARY 26, 2010
The regular meeting of the
Morris City Council was called to order at 5:15 p.m. this 26th day
of January, 2009, by Mayor Giese in the Council Chambers of the Morris Senior
Citizens/Community Center.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
ROLL CALL: Roll
call was taken with the following members present: Council member Webster,
Miller, Storck and Mayor Giese. Council member Carrington arrived at 5:18 p.m.
Also present was Finance Director Krosschell, Police Chief Beauregard, Public
Works Director Dittbenner, and City Attorney Glasrud.

READING AND APPROVAL OF
MINUTES: 1/12/10 Regular Meeting Minutes: Council member Webster
moved, seconded by Miller, to approve the 1/12/10 regular meeting minutes.
Motion carried.
1/12/10 Condensed
Version Minutes: Council member Storck moved, seconded by Webster, to
approve the 1/12/10 condensed version minutes. Motion carried.
CONSENT AGENDA:
Mayor Giese moved, seconded by Council member Miller, to approve the consent
agenda, which included the following items:

SCMC Administrative Report

Gambling Reports

Application for Exempt Permit –
Pheasants Forever

Revenue & Expenditure
Report
PETITIONS, REQUESTS AND
COMMUNICATIONS: Gambling Report from American Legion: Council
member Miller moved, seconded by Storck, to accept the gambling report from the
American Legion. Upon a roll call vote taken and all present voting in favor
and Mayor Giese abstaining, motion carried.
ORDINANCES AND
RESOLUTIONS: None
CITY MANAGER’S REPORTS
& RECOMMENDATIONS: Tourism Board Expenditures: Council member
Webster moved, seconded by Storck, to approve the expenditures as submitted by
the Tourism Board. Motion carried.
Appointments to Boards:
Mayor Giese appointed Jon Amundson to the Library Board for a 3-year term and
reappointed Carol Wilcox and Cheryl Brevig to the Rental Housing Commission for
2-year terms.
City Manager Report:
This was informational for the council.
Some questions arose
regarding the bill list. Council member Storck asked about the payment to
Craig Beyer for tree trimming and why bids were not sought since there are two
businesses in town. Council member Webster stated the payment for the building
official appeared to be higher than usual. Storck asked about the freight
charges for hauling booze and thought it seemed expensive.
