Welcome to Morris, Minnesota
Originally a small town on the prairie, Morris is currently home to the historic campus of the University of Minnesota, the Stevens County courthouse, a wealth of business and industry, including a major healthcare hub, manufacturing that serves a world-wide clientele, and a host of educational, recreational, and social opportunities.
Morris’ most defining natural attribute is the Pomme de Terre River, which lies along the outskirts of the city, and is the perfect representation of our unique community. The river brings together the pieces of our diverse, world-class cultures and our down-to-earth agriculture and industry.
The Pomme de Terre River feeds into the Upper and Lower Pomme lakes, and serves as host to a growing network of hiking and biking trails, canoeing, fishing, and boating options, as well as numerous parks that hold campgrounds, picnic shelters, athletic areas, and mile after mile of rolling green hills. Just minutes from the river are ten acres of gorgeous flowers and shrubs at the horticulture gardens, where community members host master gardener classes, families attend weddings, photographers seek out their perfect backdrops, and countless visitors stroll through the grounds from spring until fall. The scenic outlook offers a view of Morris, the river, and all the beauty that nature provides in.
